A British Run café has been named France's best village bistro by France's trendiest food and restaurant guide, Le Flooding.

Manchester-born Chris Wright was hoping for a slower pace of life when he set up his shop-cum-café, Le Epicerie de Dienne, in a remote village in the mountainous Cantal region, south of Clermont Ferrand.  His idea was to 'set up a quiet little place where you could get a nice slice of ham and cheese' and he's been rushed off his feet ever since!  Even before he won his award, Chris' café in Dienne, a village in the heart of the mountainous national park has seen a steady stream of visitors from near and far to sample Chris' signature dishes.

This area is a relatively unknown region of France.  The beautiful landscape is notable for its extinct volcanoes. Consequently, the scenery is dominated by mountain ranges with craters, lakes, valleys and rivers with plenty of pretty villages nestling between.  Dienne sounds like a jolly good place to head for for a pitstop if you're exploring the area.

Chris is taking some well earnt time off over the winter, opening for a week in February for the school holiday and then back on duty in May for the summer.  You can find out more details here:
