With a shady courtyard and beautiful sun terrace with hot tub, this lovely 3-bed 17th century town house really makes the most of both the indoor and outdoor space. Situated in the heart of the historical town centre, this elegant and refined house has stunning views and beautiful architectural features.
The house has been beautifully refurbished, retaining lots of character features, while the layout makes for a light, spacious and comfortable living space. There’s no shortage of standout features worthy of mention - the fireplaces and stone staircase are beautiful, the master suite has a particularly impressive bathroom and walk-in dressing room and looking out at the views from the hot tub on the roof terrace, you could only be in southern France!
On the lower ground floor there is a garage, wash room and cellar.
On the ground floor is a beautiful dining room that leads to the kitchen and on to a wide shady terrace, where there is plenty of room for another dining table.
On the first floor is the main bedroom, the master suite (32m2). There is a large bathroom with corner bath and shower and the dressing room.
Up the stone stairs to the second floor are the two remaining bedrooms and an independent bathroom with shower. The roof terrace is also on this level. A lovely, shaded seating area, the hot tub/plunge pool and of course, the amazing views of the Duchy over the rooftops of Uzès.
The discreet but very elegant town of Uzès is situated between Alès, Nîmes and Avignon. The medieval town is a maze of small streets and shaded squares, lined with 17th and 18th century private mansions.
Under the arcades of the nearby Place aux Herbes and along the neighbouring streets, a market takes place every Saturday whose reputation stretches well beyond the region. Just steps from the Place aux Herbes, is the medieval garden, a little haven of peace, which includes hundreds of varieties of edible and culinary, ornamental and medicinal plants grown to illustrate their importance in everyday life in the Middle Ages.
In the same area is the Duchy of Uzès which incorporates a number of monuments. History buffs will want to visit the château and see its Gothic chapel with superb stained-glass windows, the cellar and some of the apartments with their furnishings dating from the reign of Louis XIII through to Louis XVI.
