Having planned to have the new Weymouth to Cherbourg high speed ferry route up and running this summer, the operator now hopes the route will be operational in 2017. The 2 hour high-speed ferry route between Weymouth and Cherbourg will significantly shorten journey times and aims to compete with the traditional Dover-Calais route in terms of sea + port time.  Current Cherbourg routes are from Portsmouth with a 3 hour crossing time and from Poole with a 4.5 hour crossing.

High Speed Ferries have proposed a programme of twice-daily, two-hour crossings beginning early 2017 and running throughout the summer.  During the winter there are scheduled to be 4 crossings a week.

You might be interested in the kind of property for sale in Normandy, and you'll find it tends to be very reasonable especially in the Manche area where the high speed ferry is due to dock.  Normandy is particularly good hunting ground for character properties.  Stone-built cottages and timber-framed colombage farmhouses with a good-sized garden and lively village make Normandy a good place for property-seekers to explore.  You can find property details here
