Built in 1800 and situated in the middle of one of those lovely hilltop villages in the Gard department, this absolute gem of a village house has been refurbished and improved very creatively while retaining the essence of the original house. It has 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a wonderful, luminous living room, a beautiful roof terrace and pool.
Situated in a quiet street in a hilltop village only 5 minutes from Uzès, this spectacular village house is entered via a large planted courtyard, the perfect spot for outdoor meals and entertainment. Off the courtyard is a vaulted bedroom with its own bathroom. There is also a cellar and a utility room at this level. The main floor has a lovely dining/living room with a fireplace and a large, fitted kitchen. On the top floor, is a spacious study, a second bedroom and bathroom and a superb terrace with roof top swimming pool.
The village is just 5 minutes from the wonderful town of Uzès, very much authentic France. Storybook-pretty Uzès is renowned for its Renaissance architecture, a reminder of the days when it was an important trading centre. But it also has strong Roman links: water was delivered here via the Pont du Gard aqueduct en route to Nîmes, 25km to the South-West. Highlights include the ducal palace, the cathedral, elegant mansions and the arcaded central square, the Place aux Herbes, which hosts a lively farmers market every Wednesday and Saturday. For foodies, Uzès' biggest appeal is the variety of wonderful restaurants.
